Events in Exeter From 5th October – 11th October 2026

If you're looking for something to do in Exeter this week, you'll find a good mix of events. From theatre in the middle of the week to music later on, there are chances to experience local culture and entertainment. If you enjoy dramatic arts, several stages in the city are hosting performances. These productions offer a fresh take on classic stories, providing moments for thoughtful engagement. Exeter Northcott Theatre and Barnfield Theatre often showcase this type of work, and this week is no exception with a new take on a familiar play. Beyond traditional theatre, there are also opportunities for more contemporary performances. These provide a different perspective on creative expression, often featuring local artists. Look to smaller spaces around the city for these shows. If you're interested in evening entertainment, you can explore the local music scene. A visiting DJ is bringing electronic music to a venue known for its modern sounds. This offers a contrast to the theatrical options and caters to different tastes. The Cavern Club also frequently hosts live music. Whether you'd rather watch a story unfold or dance to a beat, this week’s schedule has something for you. There’s a focus on live performance, whether it’s spoken word, character work, or expertly mixed sound. Exeter Cathedral sometimes hosts musical recitals, which could also be a good fit. When choosing an event, remember Exeter’s origins as a Roman settlement and medieval trading centre; the city’s history has shaped its present culture. Think about what kind of experience you’re looking for, and remember that many venues are easily accessible via the M5 and the Park and Ride network.
